Our Experience

As one of the premier custom machine builders in the United States, we have customers all over the world.  Our customer base is largely automotive, and there are thousands of our machines in operation.  In addition to our business being around for 45+ years, the average tenure of our employee base is 10 years.  That is a wealth of knowledge and experience being brought to the table each and every day to build state-of-the-art custom feeding systems for your organization.

Our Leadership

​John Ammond

Operations & Business Development Manager

John has been with Air Way Automation since 1992, with his early beginnings being in the Service and Sales areas of the organization.  He earned his Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan.  His many years of being on the road, face-to-face with our customers at their plants has given him the knowledge required to strategically lead Air Way Automation's operational activities to the next level. â€‹John remains committed to ensuring that Air Way is a successful, world-class automation feeding equipment manufacturer and an employer of choice in the Upper Michigan area.

Jake Schierbeek
Business Controller

Jake Schierbeek serves as the Business Controller for Air Way Automation, Inc., responsible for the company’s overall financial strategy. Prior to joining Air Way in June 2022, Jake gained extensive financial experience while performing attestation and consulting engagements in public accounting for over a decade. Jake holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Northwood University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). â€‹Jake is fully dedicated to Air Way, knowing the company offers world class expertise in automotive assembly line machinery with the personalized attention of a small company. Jake works diligently to ensure Air Way maintains sound financial strategy for both short-term and long-term success.

Colby Oakes
Sales and Operations Project Manager

Since joining Air Way in June 2017, Colby has progressed from field service to project management and now holds his current position. His hands-on experience has been crucial in addressing customers' needs and fostering strong relationships. With a background in aviation and automotive, Colby has developed skills for collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams and thrives in this setting. Although Air Way has been around for over 40 years, each day presents new challenges. Colby aims to connect our established product line with technological advancements for improvement. Outside work, Colby enjoys adventuring in VW buses—driving, camping, or adding to his collection.

 

Tim Coggins

Sales Manager

With 41 years of industry experience, Tim’s journey began in 1983. In August 1997, Tim joined Air Way as an engineering manager at a time when the company had only 20 employees. Over his 27 years at Air Way, Tim has witnessed the company grow and evolve into what it is today, influencing those changes and developing a deep understanding of its complexities. Throughout the years, Tim has worn many hats, excelling in each role as he connected with customers, traveled, and, of course, focused on engineering. This position has brought him to Traverse City, where he raised his family while pursuing both his professional achievements and personal passions. As he continues in his current role, Tim remains committed to his career, bringing decades of wisdom, enthusiasm, and integrity to everything he does.
